The Chair of Production Metrology and Quality Management at the WZL, lead by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Schmitt, works on the industrialization of operational processes in production engineering. Together with manufacturing companies, the aim is to increase process and product quality by using proven quality methods in combination with new technologies. The Quality Intelligence department focuses on quality-related analysis of production data, data-driven sustainability assessment and sustainability transformation, and the transfer of current research findings and technologies to the industrial environment. The IMA has been intensively engaged in the use of artificial intelligence methods in diverse application areas of mechanical engineering. These include the manufacturing industry, the construction industry, and logistics. A central research focus is the systematic processing and use of data as well as their automatic evaluation by means of artificial intelligence methods.
