Fraunhofer IWKS
The Fraunhofer Institute for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategy IWKS develops recyclable materials and materials science technologies for a sustainable, waste-free recycling economy. In close cooperation with universities, other Fraunhofer institutes and industrial partners, we research the substitution of critical raw materials with more sustainable alternatives and develop solutions for the intelligent regeneration of future-oriented materials and their energy-efficient recovery as sustainable precursors for production.
As part of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, our goal is to make research results usable for industrial companies. Together with our partners, we thus make a valuable contribution to the transformation of industry and to a healthy planet. In the K³I-Cycling project, we deal with the analysis and optimization of plastic waste and its collection. On this basis, we are creating a characterizable waste passport.
